Arconic Foundation

Arconic Foundation is committed to supporting the Girl Scouts on their way to becoming the leaders of tomorrow. In September 2018, Arconic Foundation enhanced their partnership with Girl Scouts of the USA by providing National Gold Award Girl Scouts with scholarships. Arconic Foundation continues their support in 2020 by once again providing National Gold Award Girl Scouts scholarships to honor the ten remarkable young women whose impactful projects, unique visions, and innovative spirits have earned them Girl Scouts’ highest award. Over the three years, Arconic Foundation will have provided scholarships to a total of 30 National Gold Award Girl Scouts, helping tomorrow’s leaders kickstart their future, achieve their goals, and make the world a better place.

In June 2013, Girl Scouts of the USA began its partnership with Arconic Foundation at the announcement of the inaugural Chuck McLane Scholarship. This scholarship was available for Gold Award Girl Scouts who completed a Gold Award project that deals with science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) (PDF) and who planned to pursue a STEM-related college degree and career. Through 2017, the Chuck McLane Scholarship Program provided $10,000 scholarships to two girls each year. In addition to the financial support, an Alcoa employee mentored the 2013, 2014, and 2015 scholarship recipients during their freshman year of college.

Meet the Chuck McLane Scholarship recipients.

The scholarship honored the 40-year career of Chuck McLane, a retired executive vice president and chief financial officer of Alcoa and Reynolds Metals Company. He is a GSUSA board member who championed this program in support of young women pursuing a STEM education. Arconic Foundation shares McLane’s commitment to inspire girls, women, and other underrepresented groups on their path to STEM-related careers.
